Luana received a Ph.D. in Economics from Federal Fluminense University for her work on gender norms and the constraints and limitations in women's economic performance. Since then, Luana has studied topics such as gender relations, public policy, labor market, fiscal justice.

Her main research interests are in the areas of Labor Economics, Gender Relations, Feminist Economics, and Tax Justice.
