Call for Submissions: YSI Pre-Meeting GeFam - Mentoring Session on Research and Career

Date: September 25, 2024

Location: Insper, São Paulo, Brazil

Submission Deadline: July 25

We are thrilled to announce that submissions for extended abstracts or papers are now open for our 1st GeFam Mentoring Session on Research and Career, scheduled for September 25, preceding the 5th GeFam Meeting. This event is generously supported by the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI) and provides a fantastic opportunity for selected students to enhance their research and career prospects.

The mentorship will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, participants will be organized into subgroups, where each mentor (both senior and junior researchers from GeFam) will discuss specific topics related to a career in economics. In the second phase, selected students will receive personalized feedback from their mentors on their research. Don’t miss this opportunity to enrich your academic and professional experience!

FUNDING

We are providing financial support to cover travel and accommodation expenses for selected Brazilian participants. This funding will enable beneficiaries to attend both the mentoring session on September 25 and the 5th GeFam Meeting, which will take place from September 26 to 28. We will prioritize candidates from the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, as well as black, mixed and indigenous students. Travel expenses will be reimbursed directly by YSI to the selected participants. We will manage the accommodation reservations and payments. The reimbursement timing for travel expenses depends on coordination between the selected participants and YSI, and may occur either before or after the event.

SUBMISSIONS

If you have already submitted your paper for the conference and are interested in the pre-event and additional funding, please resubmit your paper. If you have not yet submitted a paper for the 5th GeFam Meeting and wish to apply for funding to participate in both the mentoring session and the meeting (the latter as attendee), please send an extended abstract or paper. The abstract should include up to 600 words, covering the objective, description of the data (if the work is empirical), methodology, and expected results. Selected students will be announced by August 5th, 2024. Ensure that your submission is complete with all necessary information. Prepare for an experience that promises to significantly enrich your academic and professional journey.
